Current ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ students must submit the FAFSA each year in order to borrow Direct Federal and ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Plus loans.

Step 1: FAFSA

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov  for the academic year in which aid is being requested.

To ensure accurate and efficient completion of the FAFSA, students should be sure to   file their taxes before filing the FAFSA. This will allow students to utilize  the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT). The DRT extracts the student’s IRS tax information and populates the FAFSA with the student’s tax return data.  It typically takes two weeks after filing tax information before the DRT is available for use.

• ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ School Code for the FAFSA is 001434.
• Students will need to fill out or renew the FAFSA each year
• The CSS Profile is not required for graduate students
• A pin number is required to electronically sign the FAFSA.  To request one, go to www.pin.ed.gov

Step 2: Reviewing the Student Aid Report (ISIR)

Once a FAFSA has been submitted, an electronic Student Aid Report (SAR) from the U.S. Department of Education will be generated.  Review the SAR IMMEDIATELY and make any corrections (if necessary). To update information provided on the FAFSA go to  www.fafsa.ed.gov
