Bio
Lucy Newton is the associate director of the AUWCL clinical program, where she manages the operations of the program’s 11 in-house clinics, and an adjunct associate professor in the externship program. Over the course of her more than twenty-year career as a legal aid attorney, she represented low-income clients in a wide range of housing, public benefits, consumer law, and family law matters, including at Rising for Justice (formerly D.C. Law Students in Court), the Legal Aid Society of D.C., the Neighborhood Legal Services Program of D.C., and the Georgia Legal Services Program. She was also a law fellow at the National Women’s Law Center and advised students in the Office of Career Services at Howard University School of Law.
